Life is incredibly short. So short in fact, that we never know when it will be over. For some it is sooner and for some it is later. But no matter how long or short it is, it is so important to live it to the glory of God! That God will be honored in our lives.
When you die what kind of legacy will you leave behind? What will people say about you? Most importantly what will God say about how you lived your life?
"The grave is a door that never opens again for this world, but it opens for another." -Victor Hugo
Where will you spend eternity? What will be your reward? What will Christ say when you stand before Him? Will He say, "Well done, though good and faithful servant." Or will He say, "I never knew you, depart from you workers of iniquity." O I pray God, it will not be the latter.
How are we living our lives? Is it pleasure seeking of the moment? Or a long lasting service to Christ? Are we seeking to do His will? Seeking to trust Him?
Life is often hard, many times we have to climb a steep Hill Difficulty. Many times we trip and fall, but do not stay by the wayside. Keep your hand in His hand, He will keep you. He will hold you up. He will guide your faltering feet!
So many times I fail to keep my eyes on Him. Like Peter I look down and start to sink. He calls, "Look to Me." He holds out His hand in mercy and pulls me up. Fear comes over in waves, but if we keep our eyes on Him, He will keep us from sinking!
Do not waste your life in foolish wanderings and dealings. Keep your eyes fixed on His face. Everything we do and say ought to bring Him glory.
It pains me to realize how oft I nail Him afresh to the cross by my own failings. Oh God, keep me, has been my daily cry. Will we have only worthless shells to offer Him, or living gems at His feet to lay down?
If you can't do anything, you can pray. Pray for your family, for friends, for neighbors, leaders, your country. Those you know who aren't saved. Anyone who the Lord brings to your mind. Prayer changes things. You many never know how much impact your prayers have had until you reach Heaven. Praying for others helps you too. It takes your thoughts off of yourself. It builds in you a care for others, a love for their souls. When you see a prayer answered. It is a wonderful reminder of God's faithfulness, mercy, and grace!
Live your life for God. May the deepest desire of each of our hearts be to glorify God, to serve Him!
May God be merciful to us poor, failing humans.
