Our High Calling

A Stranger Come to Call

If He should knock upon your door
What would the Saviour find?
Would you be glad to let Him come inside?
And should He glance upon the shelf to see what fills your mind,
Would there be books that you would like to hide?
Could you sit right down and talk to Him as to a treasured friend?
Would your lips reveal a love that burns for all,
Or would you have to watch your words for fear that they might show,
The Lord was just a stranger come to call?

If Jesus Christ should come one day a-knocking at your door,
Would you refuse at first to let Him in?
Then try to hide or change the things that you'd been living for,
Though all along you knew it to be sin?
Would you take Him to a secret place where daily you had prayed,
Knowing well His love could keep you lest you fall?
Or would you heavy-hearted be as suddenly you found,
The Lord was just a stranger come to call?

I've had this song for years, my family heard it on an old tape of ours. I don't know who wrote it, and it was just copied the words, so I don't have the music written. But it's a beautiful song, with a depth of meaning to it. I hope you were blessed to read it.
